ASTM
ASTM is a not-for-profit
organization which sets forth standards on many facets of manufacturing.
ASTM standards regarding solder specify composition, impurity limits, and dimensional tolerances, and are intended primarily for non-electronics related soldering.
While ASTM standards are voluntary, they are often specified in contracts and purchase orders.
J-STD-006
The
"J" Standard is a quality control specification
pertaining to solders for electronics grade solders, both with and without
flux.
QQ-S-571E
While no longer officially in use, "QQS"
remains a popular requirement on purchase orders and contracts.
Specifications cover alloy composition and dimensional tolerances.
